GRADE for iPad
Support
Something not working on set? Write to us. We answer quickly, and we know shoot days do not wait.
Email vico@rendeando.com — tell us the iPad model, the iPadOS version, which LUT box or camera you were talking to, and what happened. If you are mid-shoot, say so in the subject line.
What you need
- An iPad running iPadOS 17.0 or later, in landscape.
- A free account, which keeps your looks backed up and in sync.
- For live monitoring: a LUT box or a camera on the same network as the iPad.
- For a live picture: an HDMI or SDI capture accessory connected to the iPad.
None of the hardware is required to try GRADE. With nothing connected, the app runs on an internal test pattern so you can build looks, use the scopes and export LUTs.
Supported hardware
LUT boxes. Flanders Scientific BoxIO over the local network. GRADE sends the full look as a 3D LUT and the box applies it live. Several boxes at once are supported, in groups, so different monitors can carry different looks.
Cameras. ARRI cameras over the Camera Access Protocol, for sending looks straight to the camera. This is implemented and in validation against a production body; it will be switched on in an upcoming release.
We are not affiliated with Flanders Scientific or ARRI. Their names appear here only to say what GRADE is compatible with.
The most common problem
The LUT box does not connect. Nine times out of ten it is one of three things: the iPad and the box are on different networks, the IP address has changed, or iPadOS never asked for the local network permission. Check the IP on the box itself, then Settings → GRADE → Local Network on the iPad. The app shows the real reason under each box in the Output tab.
Trial and subscription
GRADE is free to try for 15 days from the day you create your account, with everything unlocked. After that it needs a subscription, which you buy in the app through the App Store. The subscription is tied to your account.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You manage or cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device, not through us. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Your data
What we store and why is set out in the Privacy Policy. If you want your account and everything in it deleted, email us and we will do it.
Feature requests and bugs
GRADE is built with DITs, not at them. If something in your workflow does not fit, tell us — a good number of what is in the app got there because somebody on a set asked for it.
